• Top 5 Power Balls- Foodie Friday

    We love treats. The good news is adding a few healthy treat options to your diet can really help you feel fulfilled. There are a few places that these kinds of snack/meals can really work.

    1: If you are a hard gainer and find it difficult to get enough calories in a day. Most of these balls have a higher calorie content because they are filled with nuts and fats.

    2. If you are on a keto some of these may work. Just be careful which you choose because of course, you don’t want to go over your carbs in sugar

    3. If you are very busy and need energy food on the go. Great for those days traveling and you need a healthy compact snack. Take this hiking with you. They will give you the energy you need to get to the top of the hill.

    4. If you have a sweet tooth. Many of these recipes have dried fruit or honey and although you should steer clear from eating too much sugar, if you are going to have a treat, at least these or most of these are made with whole ingredients packed with nutrients rather than empty candy calories.

     

     

     


     

     

     

     

    Ok, so it would seem that protein powder is a favorite for many of the power ball recipes out there, but don’t feel you need to add that to your own recipe. All you need is a nut butter of choice, and flavors that excite you, to sweeten them you can add dried fruit or honey. Popular ingredients are:

    • shredded coconut
    • cocoa
    • mint
    • sunflower seeds
    • figs
    • dates
    • dried cranberries
    • oats
    • pumpkin seeds
    • chia seeds
    • flax seed
    • almonds
    • cashews
    • hazelnuts
    • peanut butter
    • almond butter
    • dried bananas
    • dark chocolate chips

    You get the picture. grab some of your favorites, mix it all together in a bowl until you can make some balls that will stick together.
